February Fundraiser for Mount Pleasant Community Church Missionary Group (.pdf)

Past Fundraising Events with Melanie Strawn:

On Saturday, August 20th, my friend Stephanie Halley & I had a Zumbathon® to benefit our friends at S-NAP and we raised just under $700 for their cause.  Please visit them at www.s-nap.org to see how YOU can support them!

On Sunday, July 17th, 2011, I was joined by Amy Perschbacher (Zumba® Fitness Instructor), Candace Opalewski (Hip Hop  Hustle™ Instructor), and Tiffany Barrett (Turbo Kick™ Instructor) to help fund The Discovery Museum's soon-to-be Grand Opening!!  With sponsors, t-shirt sales, and attendance, we were able to raise over $300!!  We are all very excited for our children to benefit from the Museum's innovative ideas... and to get (and keep) our kids involved & active throughout the year!!

March 2011 Fundraiser:  With our Zumba®
Class Fundraiser (taught by Melanie Strawn) and a Thirty-One Gifts fundraiser (with independent Consultant Jamie LaPoe), a total amount of $732 was raised in support of Project Gavin's goal of sending every newborn home with a sleep sack.  The money was presented to the Central Michigan Community Hospital to purchase Halo Sleep Sacks for the newborns at CMCH!  According to Nancy King, the Director of OB, there are approximately 550 babies born each year at CMCH.  Knowing that we are all helping local newborn babies stay warm SAFELY in their beds and hopefully decreasing the incidences of SIDS in our community helps ALL of us sleep better at night.

On Sat, Feb 12, 2011, I was joined by Amy Perschbacher (Owner of Vision Studio of Performing Arts), Tiffany Barrett (TurboKick™), Candace Opalewski (Hip Hop Hustle™) and Crini Tarasi (NIA Fitness) for "Put Your Heart Into It!", a 2-hour event to raise funds for the Heart & Vascular Center at CMCH.  We successfully raised $520+ and helped strengthen the hearts of over 54 fabulous men & women!

Our Zumbathon® / Party In Pink was held on Sunday, November 14, 2010, from 4-6pm at Morey Courts Sportsplex in Mount Pleasant.  We raised $800, all of which will go towards a local chapter of Susan G. Komen and Breast Cancer Research - a great cause!  CM-Life Article

The Zumbathon®
/ Benefit for: To Write Love On Her Arms was held on Sunday, September 19, 2010, from 5-6:30pm at Town & Country in Ithaca with instructors: Krista Leiter, Georgia Boblitz, Tara Roberts, and Melanie Strawn and attended by 38 beautiful souls raising a total of $252.00.  To Write Love On Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.  TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.  On Wednesday, September 22nd, Krista had the privilege of presenting the money to a spokesperson from TWLOHA after their lecture at Alma College.

The Zumbathon® held on Saturday, June 18, 2010, from 4-6pm at Morey Courts Sportplex in Mt Pleasant helped raise money towards the Women's Aid Service of Clare, Gratiot and Isabella Counties.  It was GREAT fun and we met a lot of new people!

The Zumbathon® held on Sunday, February 28, 2010, from 5-7pm at Morey Courts Sportplex in Mt Pleasant was a huge success!  We had 215 attendees and raised $1,268.10 and all proceeds went toward the Muscular Dystrophy Association's (MDA) Augie's Quest to find a cure for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease).  This event was also featured in the Zumba® Instructor Network (ZIN) March Newsletter!
